Danish citizens aged 15 or above can apply for an ID card that will let them avoid having to carry their passports around as a form of identification.
Description
DENMARK ID CARD
If you do not have a passport or a driver’s licence, you can use the Denmark id card as an identity document.
An identity card includes your civil registration number (CPR number), nationality, and a photograph of you. You can use it to prove your identity in everyday situations. There are, however, some exceptions:
You can’t use it when you go to the doctor. You must instead bring your yellow health card.
It is not typically used as a travel identification document. Use your passport instead.
A valid identity card is good for ten years.
WHAT TO BRING WITH YOU TO THE CITIZEN SERVICE CENTRE:
For payment, bring your baptism, birth, or name certificate, yellow health card, or passport card/cash. The card costs DKK 150 (2020), which includes a photo of you taken at the Citizen Service Centre.
Danish citizens aged 15 and up can apply for an ID card, which will allow them to avoid carrying their passports around as a form of identification.
The new ID card is available from the municipality and can be used in place of a passport or driver’s licence in a variety of situations.
“The new ID card will benefit young people as well as some of our elderly and disabled citizens.” It can actually make the day easier for anyone who does not have a car.
